Nevada Test Site Tour
April 25, 1997

On Friday, April 25, 1997 [Changed from April 18], the Area 51 Research Center and the Groom Lake Interceptors will be sponsoring a free all-day public tour of the Nevada Test Site. A bus and a tour guide will be provided by the Department of Energy, but we will suggest the itinerary. The tour will focus on special areas of interest to our group, including Pahute Mesa.

The tentative meeting time is 6:30 am at the DOE offices in Las Vegas. (Details will be posted to this page when they are confirmed.) The tour will take all day and we might not be back until late.

Everyone is welcome. However, since time is limited and most of the Interceptors have already taken the standard Test Site tour, we will be breezing past many of the usual tourist sites to hit the more remote places that are rarely visited. For example, we will probably be avoiding CP-1, the control room for the nuclear tests, since the stop there is too time consuming. Our main goal will be Pahute Mesa in the northwest corner of the site, with various side trips along the way.

The size of the group will be limited by the number of seats on the bus -- 40 -- so you should sign up early. At least 30 days in advance, DOE will require your full name, address, phone number, social security number and date and place of birth. (You can either give this information to us or directly to DOE. The government will know who you are -- but don't they know everything anyway?) Foreign citizens are welcome, but they will have to sign up at least 60 days in advance.

Cameras, tape recorders and binoculars are not allowed, but a skeptical attitude is encouraged and no questions are off limits. Participants are encouraged to wear their Area 51 caps and patches. Solid walking shoes are required as well as clothing for possible cold and windy conditions. You will also need to bring a box lunch and plenty o' munchies. (Alas, there are no longer any bargains available in the Mercury cafeteria.)

Contact for the tour is Glenn Campbell at campbell@ufomind.com. (Please include your phone number in correspondence.)

If you have any suggestions about where the tour should go (apart from Area 51 and Papoose Lake, which are not in the NTS), please send them to us. Further details on the itinerary will be published on this page as they are worked out.
