Rachel's "Lt. Col. Bullshit"

In a trip report, Frank Moriarty <frankm@voicenet.com> writes about
his visit to Tikaboo Peak & Rachel...

The "Air Force Officer" who gives tours is known around Rachel
as "Lt. Col. Bullshit." He claims to work at Area 51, even as
he is giving tours to Tikaboo Peak to see it. His name is Jeff.
I know little about him, but he seems to be staying clear of me
and the Research Center staff. He lives in a small trailer in
Rachel and goes everywhere in an Air Force uniform (which is
something other Air Force officers rarely do when off duty or
when assigned to Area 51).
I could find out more about Jeff I suppose, bringing maximum
investigative resources to the task, but that might spoil his
charm.
Jeff seems to be competing with Chuckie for bragging rights at
the Little A'Le'Inn. Not long ago, they both concurred on
the startling revelation that Area 51 had moved to Utah.
(Chuckie, as you all should know by now, has taken photos
of the Aurora, but he won't show them to anyone out of his
concern for national security. The pictures are securely
locked up in a safe deposit box, he says.)
Area 51, it seems, has dropped its standards a bit in both
selection of personnel and security enforcement. And they are
paying so poorly that workers have to moonlight as tour guides.
Is this the US Air Force or the Russian Army? The fall of the
Berlin Wall must have hit 'em hard.
