From: firstname.lastname@example.org (Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas) Date: Tue, 7 Jan 1997 08:28:31 -0800 Subject: Ufomind Hosts UFO UpDates; Mailing List Archive Changes UFO UpDates -- http://www.ufomind.com/ufo/updates Area 51 Mailing List -- http://www.ufomind.com/area51/list Area 51 Mailing List Charter -- http://www.ufomind.com/area51/list/info.shtml Ufomind What's New -- http://www.ufomind.com/new/current The Ufomind server is now the host of the UFO UpDates Mailing List Archive. UFO UpDates is the most respected of the moderated mailing lists on UFOs, managed by Errol Bruce-Knapp in Toronto. Kevin Randle, Stanton Friedman, Philip Mantle and dozens of other prominent UFO researchers post there regularly. The only problem with the list has been its relatively high email load -- 20 to 40 messages per day -- which can be a burden to deal with by email. We have addressed this problem by creating an instant archive on the web. Just check in at the address above every 2-3 days, and you'll have access to all the messages. Each message is also linkable from other pages at a stable URL. The Area 51 Mailing List, which is just coming back on-line after the holidays, is expected to complement the UFO UpDates list, not overlap it. While UFO UpDates covers broad UFO issues, the Area 51 list covers only Area 51, regional issues (NV, CA deserts, AZ, UT), and specific government/military organizations. The web storage format for the Area 51 list is now the same as the UFO UpDates list: Messages appear immediately on the web as soon as they are received, so you don't have to wait for the digest. The latest messages (last 6 days for Area 51 and last 3 days for UFO UpDates) appear on the main page for each of these archives, so these are the only pages you need to link to. In addition, the latest messages for the Area 51 list also appear in the current Ufomind What's New page. We expect that most people with web access will prefer to get the messages from their rather than subscribing to the mailing lists directly. (To unsubscribe from the Area 51 list, send a message with the word "unsubscribe" in the body of the message to email@example.com.) Glenn
