My father worked for the highway department during the time of the
Roswell crash. We lived in town and one of my brothers was born there.
He was a surveyor for the state. Many a time he would be in the middle
of nowhere surveying for roads etc. It just so happened that the area
he was working during that time was just 8 miles from the crash scene.
He knew a lot of people by just the nature of the work. In them days
working out there you usually saw the same people daily. He did have a
friend fron the AF who was on patrol in the area even before the crash
occured. They became friends and he even came over for dinner a couple
of times. My father was on his way to the area he was working and was
stopped by his buddy who was now directing the closure of the area due
to the crash.  They started to jawing and he told my dad: "Its the
craziest thing I ever seen." My dad was so curious that he kept probing
him till he said: "Ray you know I'd never thought there would be a day
when I believed in UFOs but today's the day."  This guy practically
became our uncle over the next 6 months or so. My father was escorted
out of the area that day and our friend came over 3 nights later with
his future wife. They got to talking and he told my dad that he was on
the base when the ambulance pulled up with the aliens inside of the
vehicle. My dad was a drinker and so was he and let me tell you they
must have drunk all night cause my mom got so upset she told him to
leave. He was crying on my dad's shoulder and telling him how he was
going to leave the AF because of the pressure to keep their mouths shut
and the constant interrogating every time he went back to base. We
brought up to my dad what our friend had said about the UFO's. When you
live in a trailer it's not hard to hear people talking in the living
room. They would send us to bed, but a lot of times we weren't
sleeping, you know kids. I got the worst butt beating just for bringing
it up. It did happen and the government is about as truthful as SATAN.
WE were there.
