Date: Tue, 08 Jul 1997 22:03:49 -0700 From: [withheld] To: campbell@ufomind.com Subject: Lincoln County Sheriff Hi Glenn, From what I have read, it appears that the effort to unseat the sheriff last time was unsuccessful. Do you have any plans to succeed the next time? From what I have read, it seems that one or more of the county commissioners would be happy for that to happen. I am a retired state investigator who might be interested in making a move to Lincoln County for such a purpose. Please advise if there is interest and if we should continue this conversation. ===================================================================== Date: Wed, 9 Jul 1997 18:32:38 -0800 To: [withheld] From: campbell@ufomind.com (Glenn Campbell, Las Vegas) Subject: Re: Lincoln County Sheriff A lot of people are unhappy with the Sheriff, but that does not mean things will change. Lincoln County has a pretty entrenched society. If you were not born here and are not Mormon, you would have little chance of winning. In any case, this is a place where no intelligent person should invest their resources. (I am speaking as one who has invested there myself.) Local incompetence is matched only by a distrust of outsiders and stubborn resistance to any kind of new idea. The Sheriff is not really the problem; it is the voters. Without any significant industry or future prospects, young talent has been fleeing for years, leaving mainly those of little brain. Lincoln County ought to have a big sign at the border: "Invest Here at Your Own Peril." Drive through if you want, obeying the speed limit. Enjoy the fine old buildings, perfectly preserved by a lack of economic development. Just don't make the mistake of moving here or buying real estate, which may be cheap but is cutting a deal with the Devil.
