FEDS LOOK FOR CLUES IN ROCKET CRASH
Scientists will study the wreckage of a test site flight research project to determine what went wrong.

Saturday morning's crash of a Department of Energy rocket in
Esmeralda County is a blow for federal officials, but scientists
believe it is too early to say whether the accident threatens a rocket
launch project at the Nevada Test Site.
The Energy Department/Sandia National Laboratories sounding
rocket, launched from the department's Nevada Test Site Area 26 at
12:30 a.m., slammed into the ground within seconds after takeoff.
Federal scientists "are mystified by it," said Energy Department
spokesman Derek Scammell.
