I have reported on the web site that Lazar may have worked for Arcata Associates operating Smokey Sams on the Nellis Range. This information was given to me by a former Area 51 worker, who apparently got it from another inside source. This worker regards Lazar's "S-4" claims as phony. Smokey Sams are mock missiles fired at fighter aircraft on exercise. They are operated by "enemy" radar vans stationed throughout the range. This equipment requires a number of technicians to maintain and operate. If Lazar had worked on the range in this or another capacity, it would have provided him with with a basic knowledge of the range sufficient to fake his claims. (He could have also obtained information from his friend Jim Tagliani, who worked at TTR at the time.) Now, a Nellis range worker contradicts the Arcata claim, at least in part. This person, who has worked with Smokey Sams on the Nellis Range, says that Arcata has never operated Smokey Sams. Instead the threat radars were operated, at various times, by Ford Aerospace, Loral, Lockheed and directly by Air Force personnel. This person says that Lazar never worked with Smokey Sams on the range, because if he had, this person would have heard of him prior to his Nov. 1989 TV appearance. This worker also regards Lazar's claims as fake. This is only a small tidbit. It doesn't say that Lazar never worked on the range or never worked for Arcata, only that he probably did not work with on-range threat radars or Smokey Sams.
