Whew! What foul dreck! I passed this to this list before I had read
it, and I probably shouldn't have. I like to give Campbell flames
a full airing so I won't be accused of suppressing them, but sleaze
like this goes a bit too far. Henceforth, I will treat Campbell like
anyone else and won't pass along flames that have no information
content or constructive value.
Is Campbell a spindly-legged, foul-breathed, gay, child-molesting
masturbator? Let me just say this: I am not spindly-legged!
The next question is, "Who is 'Marsha Spader'?" Once again, I find
that I have more enemies than I know. My first guess would be Hular,
since he is due for an eruption about now. The language, style and
subject matter definitely match. It is the type of reaction I was
expecting to my "Lazar Theory #1" posting a few days ago. (Things are
very predictable in the Hular universe: For every action, there is a
full nuclear overreaction.)

Subject: Marsha Spader/Brian W. Purdy
As perhaps some of you have already done, I had a look to see who this
"Marsha Spader" is. The address "kipling@ix.netcom.com" comes back to
a Brian W. Purdy who is quite prolific. He's been quite active
posting (see DejaNews) with most posts dealing with rec.org.mensa and
also some anthropology items. His postings and other items suggest he
may be in Canada. Curious, since the origination headers on the
original newsgroup item in alt.conspiracy.area51 show it was posted
from Reno.
Unfortunately, DejaNews doesn't archive the portion of the headers
where that info is contained, so I can't check the location of this
guy's earlier posts. He has never made a post to any ufo or fringe
newsgroups. Also, his syntax seems decidedly different from the
Campbell post.
Curious.

I don't think I know any "Brian Purdy" either. He is not in my
database. Nor am I aware of any declared enemies in the Reno area. I
have not abandoned my Hular theory. There are not many who can
produce this calibre of work. (And Hular is a Netcom user.)
I may be a sentimental fool, but whatever happened to intellectual
debate? You know, when someone says something you disagree with, you
respond to it by pointing out the mistaken facts or flaws in
reasoning. You don't jump immediately to the lurid sex charges.
It is not worth much energy, I think. A reaction was expected, and
now it is done.
