[Commenting on an alleged government document printed in the Desert Rat in 1995. Reprinted with permission.] Date: Thu, 25 Sep 1997 00:30:35 -0400 (EDT) Commenting on: http://www.ufomind.com/area51/desertrat/1995/dr29/#executive From: David Bentley <bentley@netusa1.net> To: webmaster@ufomind.com Hi I just began reading this Newsletter or ... DR ... whatever ya call it... thus far I have enjoyed it, although I did not get to the main page till now, 2 days into it... I was reading DR #29. In the text you referenced a message that you had found posted someplace and requested any info on whether it appeared to be authentic. Background on me : I was on active duty in the US Navy from 1982-1992. My rate was ET (Electronics Technician) First Class when discharged, or better known as ET-1. During my service I was commonly involved in the repair and maintenance of all aspects of electronic equipment which included Communications Equipment, as well as Crypto and Radar. To Shorten this I served one tour near the end of my service in which I Became a CMS Custodian, which mainly means that I had access and responsibility for Key materials, but in the particular command I was on which was the USNS Powhattan I was also required to stand watch in radio central, this is where I had the most experience with military message traffic. (I supply the above mainly because it is highly unusual for anyone below E-7 to have CMS Custodian status and for an ET to process message traffic) Now I have reviewed the message you asked about, and to be Honest if this is being represented to you as a military message it is lacking in many aspects, Perhaps I would not think so if I saw the orginal Message, but the format is not correct for any message that I have ever seen, also In the entire time I reviewed message traffic ranging from TS to UNCLASS I have never seen a "Briefing" or any other document that read as that one does. It reads like a news story, all of the message traffic I read .... with the exception of actual news messages read very succinctly and dry as sand. This was standard Practice when composing messages, you never composed a message that deviated from fact, and I never saw one that was phrased as a narrative. I did get to look at the MJ-12 Document as well, but am undecided in all but one respect. It appears to be something purported to be a briefing. But again it does not conform to standard message formatting, if it was supposed to have been transmitted the earliest and biggest error is in the list of names.... they are indented. In Standard message traffic one does not indent text ever, it needlessly causes message size to increase and you just do not do that when transmitting a message. However since the originator of the message did not say that that particular one was transmitted it may not apply. The one I saw on your page however does conform to a small portion of the standard message formatting but lacks too much of the correct formatting to be credable. I have been wrong before, but if the original resembles that one I do not buy it based on personal experience with messages. I do hope that at some point you do continue the DR as I am enjoying it immensely, and find it intriguing, entertaining as well as thought provoking.
