GENERAL:
There seems to be a lot of ill will/contention in the UFO community. Maybe
we would all benefit from reading Dr. John Newman's book, "Wisdom for
Earthlings: How to Make Better Choices and Take Action in Your Life and in
Your Work." On page vii, he writes: "Hi, fellow earthling! I use the term
*earthling* to refer to all human beings residing on this planet. I
believe it provides some fundamental common ground (no pun intended) in
that *all* of us are more or less trying to figure out what we are doing on
this planet-- the reason for our existence--and how we can make the most of
it. I also believe the term *earthling* causes us to look twice at the
people we are dealing with. By putting them in the context of ‘fellow
residents of Earth,' it forces us to think differently aobut
them--hopefully in a more compassionate, cooperative, and peaceful way..."

"When challenged on the issue of human rights being violated when people
are abducted, the beings taught Rebecca that there are higher, spiritual

the beings see all other species as part of a larger whole, and thus, part
of themselves, they understand that free will cannot include endangering
any other species. Any species that violates this law, and indulges in
this erroneous notion of free will, jeopardizes the balance of nature and
is regarded by the beings as ‘suicidal.' As a result of their larger view
of reality, they do not see their ‘interference' in humankind's development
as being wrong or immoral. Rather, they see it as their *responsibility.*
"From their vantage point, they see all life forms, including humankind, as
experimental. ‘Some survive and some don't,' they casually told Rebecca.
As for the human species, it has essentially been a failure because of our
failure to transcend the physical plane on our own. At this point, the
alliance of ET species view humanity as too dangerous to be allowed to
develop advanced technology. ‘If these beings have a prime directive,'
says Rebecca, ‘it is this: No violent race can be allowed to move more than
a few steps beyond its planet of origin. They are certain that as long as
we can't get along with each other, we will never be able to get along with
them.'"

I received a delightful cassette from Bruce Maccabee called "The Joy of
Ivories," on which is the piano solo he played at the 7/11/97 MUFON
Symposium: "New Age Rising." About that tone poem, he writes that it was
"composed in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first sightings of
Unidentified Flying Objects. This composition portrays in sound the
silvery craft, the aliens, the reports by witnesses, and the explanations
of the skeptics along with the controversy over the reality and meaning of
the UFO sightings and the New Age which the UFO aliens are bringing to us.
