A copy of the Project "Sign" Action Slip was found on the
Project Sign microfilm which is not the be confused with
the Project Blue Book microfilms. There were originally
nine microfilm rolls containing Project Sign case files
and summary sheets. The Project Sign material was microfilmed
in 1948-9 to be sent to scientists and other consultants.
Some files on the Project Sign microfilms do not survive
in the Project Blue Book files. Today only four of these
rolls of the Project Sign microfilm are known to survive.
The microfilm was given to Dr. Herbert Strentz by Lt.
Col. Hector Quintaninlla. Dr. Strentz used these and
other material in a PhD disertation on the press and UFOs at
the University of Colorado contemporary with the Condon
Committee Dr. Strentz finally turned the microfilms over to
Barry Greenwood. The Action Slips themselves were used by
Project Sign personnel to track the steps in the investigation
of a UFO report or as a routing slip to various agencies
inside and outside of Wright-Patterson AFB during the
period of 1948-49.

NOTE: Atomic Research is involved. There was research
into the possibility of an atomic powered aircraft. The
1947 Essential Elements of Information (EEI) sent to
Europe by Wright Field asked about the possible of an
atomic powered aircraft. (EEI are main intelligence
goals.)
I do not know what the following are
McBee
MCIAXO
MCIAO
MCI
I assume MCI is AMC, Intelligence. So other symbols are branches.
This form does not seem to come into use until mid-1948.

> I assume MCI is AMC, Intelligence. So other symbols are branches.
That's correct, Jan. MCI stands for Intelligence at AMC
at Wright-Pat. MCIAO was Operations, and MCIAXO was
Special Operations or Projects. The designator for Project
Sign itself was MCIAXO-3. All this courtesy of Mike Swords'
research.
