Oh, yes. I was expecting an email message that I could post to the
web. I have an "Upcoming conferences" page at
www.ufomind.com/ufo/media/conf/ and would post it there.
Unfortunately, I do not have the resources to deal with a word
processing file -- or hard copy for that matter.
It would be much better publicity to have something in email form
that people can pass around. Otherwise, no one on the internet can
know about it.

Huh? I'm just the webmaster here. I run the largest UFO/Paranormal
site in the world. I get 100s of email messages a day and the site
gets 30,000-40,000 hits a day.
Richard Soles <furieart@gte.net> tipped me off that there was
interesting conference in Tampa. I wanted to publicize it for
free on my website.
I requested more information. I received it in a huge word processsing
file I could not use and that most web users cannot read. I had to go
away for 20 minutes while the file downloaded. The address the
flyer came from is not the one I sent the request to, so I had no
idea what the huge file was about.
End of story. This is apparently a private conference and
you don't want publicity for it. Instead, I will post this
sequence of messages to the place where I would have otherwise
promoted your conference.

Glenn, I think this has all gone wrong because of misunderstandings from
the start. We received a request for conference information and thought it
was from you. We sent to you what we send to anyone requesting information
by e-mail, thinking we were doing what you requested. I am uncertain what
it is you needed to put the conference on your site that wasn't provided in
the e-mail. We truly aren't trying to be nasty but just did not have a
clear picture. It was our impression that you were the one requesting the
flyer for your personal use and we sent what we send to all requests by
e-mail. We had no way of knowing that wasn't what you wanted. I do hope
you understand our reasons for sending the flyer. As for your assistance
in promoting the conference, we sincerely appreciate your efforts and, once
again, provided the information always provided when a request for
information is made.

Glenn, apparently what you recieved was the 15 page program guide and
that was what gave your Largest UFO site a problem. Sorry for that. I
only went by what your site mentioned about upcoming events in OCT '97.
And I noticed that the conference in Florida was not listed. I thought
your site being the Largest would help inform the 30,000-40,000 hits a
day about our event here in Florida.
The group here in Florida wasn't trying to supersede your operation,
just to get the message out.
