Subject: Parapsychology / Remote Viewing

I've been closely following the parapsychology subject, especially
"remote-viewing", over the past six months to a year. It's just as
fascinating, and something as confusing, as Ufology has always been.

However, it appears this field has true science on it's side.

I thought you might be interested in the following:

Earlier this year, James Spottiswoode, a scientist who worked at the
Cognitive Science Laboratory (the same lab which worked with the US
Government, CIA, etc. on their 20-year remote-viewing programme),
found something interesting about psi.

Our Earth spins every 23hrs and 56mins, while our clocks are set to
24hrs. So when Spottiswoode was looking for some insight into what
was causing the strange "slightly higher than chance" effects of
psi, he first turned to the 24hr clock. He compiled details of
thousands of experiments to see if there was any correlation between
the time of the trial, and the effect observed, to see if psi could
in any way be explaned by some daily event here on Earth. He didn't
find anything significant.

Afterwards, he turned his attentions to the "23hr 56min" clock, a
"Sidereal day" (pronounced 'sigh-dear-ial'). This time, he DID find
something: at 13:30 'Sidereal time', each and every day, for a very
short window, the remote-viewing/psi effect TRIPLES in size.

This effect, if verified, hints that something happening -- or NOT
happening -- in our galaxy or universe at this time could be the
cause of, or else something that hinders, what's happening, since at
that time of day we'll be pointing to the same point in space, day
after day. In other words, what was being seen WASN'T due to any
daily occurence on Earth, but due to the motion of the stars
overhead.

This alone has made me take this field a lot more seriously - the
effect was so small it was pretty boring, until this was found. This
helped clear a lot of the skepticism I had of psi, and if true,
leaves the skeptics without much of a leg to stand on. (How can
'fraud', 'bad science' or 'chance' explain a 400% increase in psi at
a certain time every Sidereal day? I'd be interested if you have any
theories to account for this :)

Below is an URL of a page on my site which has Spottiswoode's
article. It's a little on the technical side, though:

I also have a clock which you can download from my site, which lets
you calculate the current Sidereal time in your area:

 http://www.parabbs.demon.co.uk/News/10.html

This also has a summary of the findings and an abstract (rather than
a full copy) of Spottiswoode's paper. Or you might want to visit
Spottiswoode's or CSL's web sites:

http://www.jsasoc.com/
http://www.jsasoc.com/~csl/

I also have various news on this discovery in my news pages:

http://www.parabbs.demon.co.uk/News/

I hope this helps erode a little of the skepticism you have for the
reality of psi. In my opinion, I think it's very hard to deny that
"something" is happening. What is it, I don't know - I don't think
anyone knows for sure - but it's definately there.
