Dear Mr. Campbell,
I must confess to falling victim to a much embarassing and avoidable
predicament. As you may recall from my last correspondence, my girfriend
Amy and I recently visited Rachel, and subsequently discovered the now
defunct "Desert Rat." As much enjoyment at the "Rat" has given us, and as
informative and liberating (liberating in the sense that it has virtually
disintigrated any of the myths and unfounded preconceptions and rumors
surrounding Area 51. I would daresay that to understand of "The Rat" is to
separate the "men" from the "tourists") as it has proven to be, I must
admit that before reading it, I had no idea just who Glen Campbell was.
Sure I had heard the name, and even associated it with A-51, alongside
Lazar, Joe and Pat Travis, Art Bell, and Ambassador Merlin. But, surely you
must know how hard (impossible?) it is in this field to discern the
lunatics from the scholars. (Does it not make sense that the burden should
fall upon the "ufologist" to demonstrate his own sanity?)
Which brings me to the "Desert Rat." Certainly you have validated you
proficiency and your intellectual stability (not to mention you wit,
talent, cleverness, and tenacity) a thousand times over... I only wish that
I had discovered the "Rat" before our trip to Rachel.
You see, (and here I must take my most bashful, apologetic pose) I... I
will be blunt. I stupidly purchased Chuckie-boy's Area 51 book, instead of
yours. Upon visiting your research center, I did notice the handbook,
sporting the "Banned in the Little A'Le'Inn" label, but again I did not
know you. I thought, "What's the difference, I've already bought the other
one." and proceeded to peruse your commendable library. So there you have
it. I'm embarassed and I'm sorry. All I can say in the way ammendment is
that I have added an appendix to Chuck's book, composed of Psychospy and
Agent x's treatise on integrity and their offer of a code-name and
invitation to be an official Interceptor. The 'Gimp', how apropos. The
"book" now resides in my closet (not in my ufo library) to be taken out
only as a joke. I'd rather ride a rocket into Hell, than set foot near Area
51 without Glenn Campbell's official handbook.
Sincerely,
-Scott Carr
