For two days I have read both criticisms of, and support for, both Jim
Dilettoso and the article featured in the New Times. The article discusses
specific allegations against Jim personally as well as attacking his
professional ability. Some of the allegations, in my opinion, if false,
might be considered libelous if malice can be proven. Whether the
allegations are true, partly true or totally false...the reputation of the
UFO community has been damaged. If the allegations are totally false...we
must respond to this attack through the judicial process...in the
spotlight of an open and fair hearing. We must demonstrate that anyone
contemplating another attack should be prepared for a swift and just
response. If partly true, we must determine what allegations are true and
acknowledge the impropriety, taking whatever action the UFO community
deems appropriate. If the allegations are totally or substantially
true...then, with all due respect to a person I had respected and admired,
Jim Dilettoso must be sanctioned in accordance with his actions and
conduct. The UFO community has a responsibility of 'policing' its own
house. It seems, for whatever reason, we have been remiss in doing this. I
think it is time we take our search for the truth to a higher level.
Two weeks ago CAUS called for a statement by Dr. Steven Greer with respect
to a controversial posting on the CSETI website. That statement has yet to
come forward. CAUS is now calling upon Jim Dilettoso to come forward and
issue a statement as to the truth or falsity of each of the allegations in
the article. The UFO community is entitled to know the truth...especially
if it is about one of its members.
