New NICAP website authorized

NICAP is reborn not as another membership organization but as
a website to make NICAPs extensive case files and investigations
available to the public. The official announcement is attached.
This action was coordinated with and approved by Richard Hall and
other former NICAP officials.

Greetings List Members,
It is with great pleasure that I announce the official
authorization of the web site for the National Investigations
Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). We have been working on
the site change from InterLink:UFO to NICAP the InterLink:UFO
site for weeks. The authorization came today from Mark Rodeghier
of the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) in Chicago which holds
the NICAP rights and records.
NICAP will not be another UFO organization, as before. The one
thing we don't need is another UFO group, per se. NICAP will now
be the web site, the international site for the peer-reviewed Best
Available Evidence.
The "Latest News" in the electronic version of the "UFO
Investigator", one for each month with archived copies for
newcomers, will replace the InterLink:UFO's Director's Message.
I will not be the Director of InterLink:UFO, the head of "Fran
Ridge's UFO web site", but the Web Site Coordinator (webmaster)
with a number of official NICAP advisers providing the guidance
and control over this NICAP site.

The imminent authorization was even withheld from our previous
webmaster, Clint Stone, awaiting approval from CUFOS. Clint will
be working on the "Who's Who In UFOlogy".
The "Latest News" is accessable from the Home Page but is also
listed here:

The web site will operate in the spirit and tradition of the original
NICAP and will be building the site under the structure of the UFO
Evidence (early history to 1964) and UFO Evidence II (to-date).

HERE IS THE NEW MISSION STATEMENT

NICAP's InterLink:UFO web site is designed to be a primary
internet UFO evidence depository for special evidence and other
important information regarding serious UFO research. Besides a
few primary directory sites to handle the main directioning, as
many reputable sites as possible are utilized to control the
storage and downloading bandwidth, plus provide security for all
the information provided. Numerous UFO web sites exist on the web,
many which have good data even among the bad. It is NICAP's
consensus that, by selecting the useable links, we will be gleaning
something of use, plus thereby encouraging everyone to work towards
both quantitative and qualitative entries.

By filing the evidence into several directories (Case Book by year,
Case by Categories, etc.) researchers can quickly locate the topic
of their choice. The evidence selected is not only time-tested, but
it is also qualitated by keeping it isolated from the lights-in-
the-sky" and other candidates for IFO's. Rather than explain what
NICAP's InterLink:UFO has to offer, simply take a look.

We are also working on a directory of UFO researchers or a "Who's
Who in UFOlogy". This will be a great task, with links to images
on hundreds of web sites.

We need your help! We urge you to USE the site, but really need
your cooperation to make it work. We need suggestions and links
you have found that we have missed. We need some of your server
storage space. Web pages don't take much space. We need images
stored, however, and this DOES take up space.
